Flamingo class teachers are Emma McNiel and Charlotte Howting. Our teaching assistants are Hannah Brown, Laura and Jacquline Phillips.
Within our week we have lots of exciting opportunities for children to learning in and out of the classroom environment. On Mondays we work on physical development in swimming. We experience Forest school on Thursdays and have P.E on Fridays. Please have suitable clothing in school on those days.
Our topic for the Autumn term 2017 is Yum Yum. We will be looking at food linked texts including The very hungry caterpillar, Handa’s surprise, Kipper’s Birthday, The tiger who came to tea and Oliver’s vegetables. We will also look at traditional tales through the gingerbread man and look at non-fiction books around food and cooking. We will be looking at food from different cultures, tasting different foods and cooking new recipes. From this we will look at following instructions, making choices, weighing and using tools safely. We will be looking at what foods we eat and what animals eat. We will look at how we can make our own food and where it comes from. Throughout this term we will be taking part in some celebrations including Diwali, Christmas and Harvest.
Children will have the opportunity to learn through individual teaching sessions, group work and child led independent learning. We make observations of the children and work on next steps.
Our class Flamingo ‘Flynn’ will be coming home with children at the weekends so look out for his arrival, it would be great if you could use his home school book to make comment on something your child has done with him over the weekend he comes to stay!
