Dragonfly class is a primary class for children in years 1, 2 and 3. The teacher is Gemma Meachim, supported by three teaching assistants- Alice Luxford, Josie Green and Kieran Gillan. This year our topics include Yum Yum where we will be learning all about food, where it comes from and how it is grown.
In Dragonfly class children learn through a combination of independent learning, focused small group and 1:1 work. Children are encouraged to learn new social skills through games and play as well as form friendships within the class. They learn to read and write through sensory topic based play and learning activities. Each week children take part in a science experiment to find out more about their world and how things happen.
The children are encouraged to be independent and to help out with special jobs around the classroom including pouring the drinks for snack time and taking the register to the office.
In Dragonfly class we will go on a topic related trip every week in the second half term which will include places like Pick Your Own Farm and Arundel’s Swanbourne Lake.
We have swimming on a Friday afternoon and Forest schools on a Monday. This allows the children to learn new exciting skills and share a hot chocolate around the camp fire! We look forward to a happy year, making new friends and learning new skills!
