In Meerkats we have 11 children from year 3 to year 6 who work with their teacher, Lydia and 6 adults, Di, Nic, Harley, Sarah, Jodie and Ashleigh.
We are an enthusiastic class that love to learn about the world around us. We enjoy learning in groups, as a class or independently. Literacy and numeracy skills are taught throughout the whole curriculum and our day, to embed knowledge and key skills. In Meerkats we attend Phonic streaming with the rest of Junior hub four days a week to improve our reading and writing. One of our favourite subjects is ICT and we enjoy exploring and learning about new topics on the computers. We love using our imagination in subjects such as Art and DT and showcasing what we have learnt in our independent learning sessions.
Meerkats learn skills such as independence, resilience and team work and enjoy spending time with our peers. Good behaviour results in Golden time, soft play, or time in the ICT suite; and respect and kindness are taught at every opportunity. We choose a star of the week for the pupil that has shown great development which gives them a real sense of pride. This pupil will get a special mention in the assembly on Fridays.
We enjoy swimming at Littlehampton pool and absolutely love our Forest school sessions where students can develop their skills in teamwork, socialisation, and have lots of fun outside of the classroom making popcorn and roasting marshmallows.
Please get in touch with me, Lydia, if you have any questions or would like to know more about our amazing class.
