Parrot class is a Primary class with 11 children from Year 1, 2 and 3. The class is taught by Lauren on Monday to Wednesday and Charlotte on Wednesday to Friday, and they are supported throughout the week by 3 teaching assistants; Joy, Hannah and Gemma.
In Parrot class we explore learning through play, sensory experiences and topic based work. We will begin the year with a very exciting topic of ‘Abracadabra’. During this topic we will be looking at what makes us magical and unique before exploring mythical creatures and beings with the help of wonderful stories such as Julia Donaldson’s ‘Room on the broom’.
A key part of the learning in Parrot class is developing independence and self-help skills both in learning and daily routines. On a Wednesday morning, the children will have a class trip where along with visiting places which support the topic, they will be working on learning how to keep safe when out and about in the community.
In addition to our weekly class trips, Parrot class will have the opportunity to access our fabulous Forest School sessions during the second part of the Autumn term. In these sessions the children will take risks in a safe environment, explore nature and even have a campfire with their friends.
