27th March 2020
We have reached the end of this first week in the new world we have all been launched into! I am sure, like me, many of you have had lots of ups and downs and I think it is true to say we are all still feeling our way with new routines, systems and ways of working. However, the community at Palatine have, I think, been absolutely wonderful and we should all feel proud of how we have managed in this tricky situation.
Today we have contacted all families who access FSM to ascertain whether or not a lunch delivery is required next week. For those of you who require this, our team will try their best to deliver on Monday. It will be left on your doorstep. Please do make sure you are in to collect as we cannot staff delivery times / multiple runs. If you think this applies to you and you didn’t get a call do please let us know after 9 am on Monday.
As explained yesterday we have arranged school over the holidays, for those families who require it. You will have received a text today confirming that you have a place. This does not cover Good Friday or Easter Monday. If you did not receive a text and think this was agreed, please notify school on Monday after 9 am. Please do not send your children to school unless you had this confirmation. Thank you.
Our wonderful technology team have worked to find a video conferencing solution. The teachers will be testing it over the next week or so and then we will contact your further to explain how we will use it and what you will need to do to access this.
We also know some of you want to share photos of activities you are doing at home and the technology team have also sorted this. Please send any photos to us at: email@example.com Please, when you email, indicate if you do not want the photos posted on social media too (Facebook, Instagram, twitter etc). This is not compulsory and you absolutely do not need to do this but we wanted to offer it as another way of keeping in touch with school.
Please also find below a link to another child friendly ‘story’ about the situation we face. I hope it is useful. When you access the link it looks like it will be in Spanish but scroll down and open the English PDF file.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff team who have gone above and beyond to make school work and to keep our community strong. Their hard work and dedication has been truly amazing!
Thank you too, to our parent community. Your continued lovely messages are so appreciated by all the staff.
A huge cheer for each and every child at Palatine; to those who have been in the building, for those at home and for those who have answered the phone so politely and competently when I have rung! You have been amazing! Very well done!
I am not planning to write every night next week because as we get systems in place there is less to update you with. We will stay in touch through teacher emails, phone calls, texts and letters from me with any updates. However, if there is anything worrying you or you need any help at all please do contact us and we will do our very best to help.
Very best wishes
