4th September 2020
Dear Parents and Carers,
It has been wonderful to see all the children again. They have made an excellent and remarkable start to the year adapting to new routines, meeting new adults and friends and settling back into school. I have been so proud of what they have all achieved and it has been lovely to see them happy and engaged in school life, adapting so quickly to the new term.
Thank you so much in supporting us with a phased return this week. Providing the children with the opportunity to familiarise / re-familiarise themselves with school in smaller groups has really helped them all to settle. It has been so beneficial to them all and we really appreciate your support with this.
Likewise the staggered entry and exit to school is really helping children have a safe and calm transition at the start and end of the day and I thank you all for your part in this.
Frequently asked questions videos
As promised the staff have put together some videos to help with understanding all the national procedures related to Covid-19. These can be found on our website palatineschool.org/information/useful information/coronavirus-Covid 19. If you scroll to the bottom of this page you will find a frequently asked questions section with a number of short videos you can turn to quickly if you need a reminder of the guidelines. We do hope you find these really helpful.
A change to the law
As you may be aware in the news, from Monday 14 September, indoor or outdoor gatherings of more than 6 people will be illegal, with the exceptions of workplaces and schools. It is so important that we all adhere to this so we can ensure we stay safe and well and that all of our children are able to come to school.
Important phone number information
Public Health England has informed West Sussex that there has been a change to the NHS number for getting tested, from 111 to 119.
We look forward to welcoming all the children back to school each day next week. Now they have practiced using the one way system and the increased handwashing and different routines in smaller groups hopefully things will run as smoothly as possible for them all. No doubt adapting to a much busier school will take some getting used to and I hope that the systems we have in place to keep us all safe and well through this current situation will help them with this.
Please remember to come at your specified arrival and departure time. We ask that you do not come in earlier than your allotted time to ensure queues are as short as possible. No doubt with more of us there will be some teething issues next week and I thank you all for your willingness to work together to make our new systems work.
Have a lovely weekend.
