2nd October 2020

Dear Parents and Carers,

We have had another fantastic week in school. A number of children are growing in confidence and independence. Others are making new friends and I saw two children from Seahorse Class today laughing and beaming at each other whilst sharing in an activity.   I have been shown some fantastic writing and heard some terrific reading (including a ‘Catch it, bin it, kill it’ poster). Another child has learnt to use the toilet. Many children are helping others around school. I am so proud of them all.

Calendar dates reminder for the Autumn Term

You will have recently received a school calendar with the dates for the year as far as we are currently able to plan for. Some key reminders for this term:

  • Half term: 26th – 30th October
  • Parents evening week: 2nd – 6th November
  • Friday 13th November: INSET day
  • End of the Autumn term: Friday 18th December

Parents Evening arrangements

Unfortunately, because of the current situation and guidance to schools our usual parents evening will not be possible this term. As a result of this teacher’s will be contacting you individually to make arrangements for them to discuss your son or daughter’s learning in the week beginning the 2nd November. For the most part these will be telephone or Teams video call appointments bespoke to your family’s needs. The teaching staff will be as flexible as they can with this within the constraints of their teaching commitment and school routines. They will each be offering one night of appointments up to 7 pm. We do hope that these will be valuable and support you in being able to discuss your son or daughter’s progress in the safest way possible.

Virtual Coffee Morning

We are missing our coffee mornings, where it was lovely to chat to those of you who came and of course, enjoy the delicious cakes you baked! Unfortunately we cannot hold these at the moment but our family liaison officer, Kaarina Dougherty, is planning to run these virtually. She is aiming to hold the first one before half term. If you have any ideas as to how these might run please do contact her at KDougherty@palatineschool.org

Please do look at the website to support you with any Covid related queries and if you need any further help at all do please contact school and we will try our best to support you. Thank you for your ongoing support, we do appreciate it.

Very best wishes

Have a lovely weekend.

Catriona
