28th June 2024

Dear Parents and Carers,

The children have done some great learning in school despite the heat. We have started our new whole school topic of ‘The Snail and the Whale’ with lots of children enjoying a viewing at the school ‘cinema’ in the hall. The children have completed lots of learning around this theme and some have created beautiful paintings, whilst others enjoyed their sensory learning. We had another visit from the therapy donkeys and the classes which didn’t visit last time had this opportunity. The children followed instructions to gently brush or walk the donkeys and it was lovely to see their excitement and enthusiasm whilst hearing them communicate so much because of this. In the pool, one child went swimming for the first time and had lots of fun swimming with their adults. Another swam without goggles for the first time. One child had their first physio session this week and did a fantastic job. In maths, two children made really good progress when learning about capacity and another told me it was his ‘favourite part of maths’ whilst explaining all about what he had learnt. A number of children have made progress in their communication, using more words in context. One class did some fantastic cooking and lots of children made some delicious flapjack to share with their parents. Finally, our Engineers’ classes have created a comic full of superhero stories. They are so proud of what they have achieved, and their comic is fabulous!

Safeguarding Spotlight

With the summer holidays fast approaching, children will have more free time to spend with family, friends and online.  For some, this will be spent using the internet to keep in touch with friends and playing their favourite games.  Please see this month’s Online Safety Newsletter with timely reminders and helpful tips for us all on how we can keep our children safe online.

Information re next year

It is the time of year when we plan for next year. If your children are in Year R to Year 5, you will receive a letter home with your child today indicating who their teacher is for next year. We still have one teacher to recruit so for one class it will say ‘to be confirmed’.  As a school we put children at the heart of our decisions, and we have carefully considered many elements for next year.  We hope you will be looking forward to working with your child’s new teacher and that we will have a very positive year as a community.

At this time of year, discussing things on social media or with other parents rather than sharing any concerns with school can spread rumours and cause upset and should be avoided. If you have a query, or do not receive the letter about next year’s class teacher, please contact school. Thank you.
