Alternative Approaches

Phonics is always our first strategy for teaching children to read, but some children need alternative approaches.

Harberton Reading Programme

We use the Harberton Reading Programme to support some of our children with learning to read. It was designed for children with learning difficulties and literacy difficulties and supports children to develop a vocabulary of sight words.

Motivational Reading

Some children find it difficult to engage with learning that is not related to their interests. To support these children, we have developed our Motivational Reading approach.
