Giraffe class is a group of 13 children from KS2 who follow a subject-led curriculum supported by their teacher, Nathan Bird and Teaching Assistants, Hannah, Nikki and Mel.
In class we explore a wide range of subjects. These include regular reading, maths, phonics and writing sessions, activities developing our creative, technological, scientific and motor skills, exploring and understanding our emotions and being able to work with others and developing our communication skills. This is always based around our topic at the time which is ‘Under Attack’ during the Autumn Term.
Children usually work in groups or on their own after whole class or small group teaching input and some children work 1:1 with an adult, sometimes in their own room.
We also take the children out for trips regularly, some close (Littlehampton Wave, Out of Bounds, Amberley Museum) and some further afield (London Science Museum).
Our aim is to create an environment that stimulates learning and makes children excited to be in school whilst feeling safe and supported.
